Measured Building Survey in London: Overcoming Challenges and Ensuring Safety
At SolidPoint, we understand the importance of a comprehensive measured building survey. Our London team is equipped to handle the challenges that come with working on a construction site, ensuring the safety of our team and other workers on site while providing exceptional service.
Working in London – Accommodations for On-Time Site Inductions
While our base is in the East Midlands, our skills and passion for meeting client expectations have led us to take on projects all over the country, including the bustling city of London. Our recent project in London involved a measured building survey in the heart of the city, which required us to be on site for 8:30am for a site induction. To ensure that we were fresh and alert for the job, we found accommodations close to the site with easy access to transportation.
Two Site Visits – Efficient Scheduling and Early Deliverables
We understand that scheduling can be a challenge for our clients, which is why we worked closely with the client’s schedule to complete a full London measured building survey in just two site visits, with a maximum of two days on site per visit. This approach allowed us to release floor plans to the client earlier than if we had scanned the entire building in one visit. We also made sure to capture all necessary data during our first visit to avoid duplicated efforts or assumptions.
Efficient Workflow – Data Management for Better Results
Handling large amounts of data can be a challenge, but our team knows how to get the job done. Rather than working with an unmanageable point cloud file, we subdivided the building into manageable portions and decimated the data, resulting in much smaller files of around 4GB. This allowed us to complete the modelling process without being bogged down by irrelevant data and ensured that our clients could analyse the data smoothly on any workstation.
Conclusion – Comprehensive Services for a Successful Measured Building Survey
At SolidPoint, we pride ourselves on providing a complete package to our clients. Our recent project was completed within 7 weeks of registering the scans, with a final deliverable that included DWGs, PDFs, a BIM ready Revit Project, and the scan data in RCP format. Trust us to provide a comprehensive and efficient measured building survey for your next project in the London area.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) on Measured Building Surveys
What is a Measured Building Survey?
A Measured Building Survey is a detailed and accurate representation of a building's structural and architectural features. It can include floor plans, elevations, cross-sections, and more, capturing every detail of the building's interior and exterior.
Why do I need a Measured Building Survey?
Such surveys provide crucial insights for property professionals, architects, and developers. They are essential for renovations, extensions, property sales, and lease plans, ensuring projects are based on accurate and up-to-date information about the building.
How is a Measured Building Survey conducted?
At SolidPoint, we utilise the latest laser scanning technology to create detailed point clouds, ensuring high accuracy. The gathered data is then converted into 2D drawings, 3D models, or Building Information Models (BIM) as required.
How long does a survey take?
The duration depends on the size and complexity of the building. A small residential property might take a few hours, while larger commercial properties could require several days. We always strive for a fast turnaround, ensuring your project timeline remains on track.
Is a Measured Building Survey disruptive?
Our advanced laser scanning methods minimise disruption and are completely safe and risk-free around people. There's no need for extensive scaffolding or access equipment, allowing most building functions to continue as usual during the survey.
What standards do SolidPoint surveys adhere to?
SolidPoint's Measured Building Surveys strictly adhere to the RICS Code of Measuring Practice, 6th edition, ensuring that our surveys meet the highest standards of professionalism and accuracy.
What will I receive at the end of the survey?
You'll receive detailed outputs tailored to your needs, which can include floor plans, elevations, sections, point clouds, 3D models, and more. All data is presented in easy-to-understand formats, ready for immediate use.
Can older or historic buildings be surveyed?
