What Is a CCTV Drain Survey?
A CCTV Survey is a method of monitoring drains, whether they are:
- Foul drains,
- Surface water drains,
- Combined sewers.
Their main purpose is to check for any faults or cracking, and to check if the pipe needs maintenance, however, they can also be used to provide guidance on which drains are connected together.
When combined with an Electromagnetic Indicator, CCTV surveys are also a very good way to gauge the length and depth of trains and runs along a drain.

How Does a CCTV Survey Differ From a Utility Survey?
CCTV drain surveys are exclusive to drains and provides a visible inspection of pipe diameters and depths. Utility surveys locate all kinds of underground services however, you are only receiving a vertical and horizontal position of them, with no information on the size of each service or an image of the state they are in.
Utility Surveys utilise a combination of Electromagnetic Locating and GPR to find where the services are, whereas a CCTV Survey doesn’t necessarily have to even give accurate positioning and just really needs to say which drain connects to which. How Much Does a CCTV Drain Survey Cost?
Typically the cost can be as low as £695 + VAT for a small sized plot. This price will of course increase dependant on distance and size.
However, we offer a bundle discount if you request a CCTV Survey alongside a Utility Survey, lowering the starting price to £495 + VAT.
