Laser Scanner & Operator Hire
Assuming you have identified the need for a point cloud survey, you will need the tools to carry out the work.
At SolidPoint, we offer laser scanner hire with a simple difference to our competitors – we provide a competent, qualified surveyor to operate it.
From as little as £373, you can instruct us to attend a site on your behalf to collect the laser scan data you require.
If you don’t have the capacity or license to register the data to a well-aligned point cloud, we can do this for you too. In fact, we’ve come up with some simple, fixed-fee pricing that will enable you to get the point cloud you need for your project, to the accuracy you need with very little fuss.

3 Hours On-Site Laser Scanner & Operator
£373 + VAT*
This will get you 3 hours on-site for our operator. In that time, they can collect roughly 30-35 major scans along with the required intermittent scans needed for accurate alignment.
This would easily be enough time to survey a large 5-6 bedroom property, or two small, neighbouring 3-bedroom properties.
The output will be raw scan files, which will likely require registration for design analysis.

6 Hours On-Site Laser Scanner & Operator
£684+ VAT*
This will get you 6 hours on-site for our operator. In that time, they can collect roughly 60-70 major scans along with the required intermittent scans needed for accurate alignment.
This would easily be enough time to survey a small commercial office building, a series of street elevations for Rights to Light, or an open plan library or warehouse.
The output will be raw scan files, which will likely require registration for design analysis.
* Travel costs will be in addition to this price
Optional Extras
There are a number of extras which can either improve the output to aid in design use, or increase the accuracy where more precision in positioning is required:
Scan Registration
£155 + VAT / £283 + VAT
If you don’t own a license for scan registration software and require an accurate, well-aligned point cloud, then you will need this service!
For just £155 (+ VAT) to register 3 hours worth of scan data, or £283 (+ VAT) to register 6 hours worth of scan data, you’ll get a fully aligned point cloud that can be used in most BIM applications.
We’ll also provide a fully functional Recap project, which will allow you to analyse your scan data to take measurements, and take a real-view tour from the scanned positions in a 360° panoramic style. You can even export smaller portions of the data set yourself, to enable faster workflows in given areas of your project.
Survey Control
£498 + VAT
Sometimes, it’s essential that projects are positioned based on permanent survey control stations.
If survey control has already been established or you need stations to work from in the future, then you’ll need this option.
We also set up targets in key, core areas to help prove alignment accuracy to existing control, while also ensuring that the scanned point match existing information that has been collected on the same survey control.
This can be advantageous when checking construction against as-built models or drawings.
GPS Positioning
£249 + VAT
For larger projects or areas of flood risk, it will likely be the case that you require accurate GPS positioning to a local or global coordinate system.
We use top-of-the-range GPS equipment that enables us to accurately position our point cloud data to a fine tolerance in real-world coordinates.
Additional Operator
£155 + VAT
Sometimes, for Health and Safety reasons, it is essential that at least two operators work together on-site, especially on construction or demolition sites where there are safety concerns or risk of injury.
All of our operators have a valid CSCS card, which is correct for the type of work they carry out.
Having an additional operator will also increase the number of scans that can be collected by around 10%, as some simple tasks can be shared.
Full Colour Scanning
Free
If you require full colour laser scanning for either building records or visualisation, then it will be essential to request this.
It doesn’t cost any extra, but will reduce the number of scans that can be collected in a given timeframe.
To collect colour data, it takes approximately 3.5 minutes per scan position, in addition to the laser scanning time required.
Although it negatively effects efficiency, it can bring great value to the project in terms of easy design analysis, as seeing scan data in colour is on par with any 360° panoramic capture, and is a great way to show off to your end clients.
360° Video
£186 + VAT
New technology is great. Thanks to technology advancements, we can offer 360° video tours of the properties to accompany our laser scan data.
This will bring added benefits in terms of additional media to help analyse the current building state, and will also improve visualisation and presentation, putting you another step in front of your competitors.
YouTube and Facebook, along with other social media platforms, support these videos, so they can greatly aid in marketing and project awareness.
Existing BIM-Ready Revit Modelling
