Boundary Survey in Birmingham
Boundary Surveys
Whether you’re putting up a new fence, resolving a neighbourly dispute, or just want to know exactly what’s yours, a boundary survey gives you the precise property lines you need for peace of mind and proper planning.

Our client got in touch with us after ongoing concerns about a neighbouring extension that had been built in the early 1980s. The extension sits extremely close to their property with very little space between the two buildings and, in some areas, almost touching.
Over time, this had started to cause issues. Our client was experiencing damp along that side of their home and suspected the positioning of the extension and the boundary line could be a contributing factor.
They wanted an independent boundary survey to clearly establish the likely legal boundary position using Land Registry documents, historic mapping, and accurate on site measurements. Just as importantly, they wanted clarity on whether the current fence line was correct and what their options might be moving forward.
Our Approach
We carried out a detailed boundary survey at the property, combining on site measurements with a review of relevant Land Registry information and historic mapping data.
The survey itself was completed in around three hours, capturing all the necessary data to assess the relationship between the existing structures and the perceived boundary line.
From this, we produced a clear and easy to understand report outlining the likely legal boundary position, along with supporting evidence. This gave the client a solid, unbiased foundation to understand their situation and decide on next steps.
How Did Our Client Benefit From a SolidPoint Boundary Survey?
For the cost of £921, the client received:
Clarity and Confidence
The survey provided a clear picture of where the boundary is likely to sit, removing uncertainty and helping the client fully understand their position.
Support for Next Steps
With proper documentation in place, the client is now in a much stronger position should they wish to raise the issue with their neighbour, explore mediation, or take things further if needed.
Informed Decision Making
The findings give the client a realistic view of whether pursuing a legal route is worthwhile, helping them avoid unnecessary time, cost, and stress.
Boundary issues like this are more common than people think, especially with older extensions where original boundary lines may not have been strictly followed.
In situations where access is restricted or maintenance becomes difficult, problems like damp can start to appear over time. Having accurate, independent information early on can make a big difference in resolving things before they escalate.
In this case, the survey also opens the door for a more constructive conversation between neighbours, potentially resolving the issue without the need for legal action.
