Trinity Wharf, Hull
Drone & Point Cloud surveys for a cladding remediation project

The team at BBP approached us to support the redesign of the external façade at Trinity Wharf, with a particular focus on fireproofing works.
To move forward confidently, they needed accurate and reliable information about the building’s external structure, especially the precise location of windows and the condition of the cladding. Traditional methods alone wouldn’t provide the full picture, particularly at height.
By combining drone capture with point cloud scanning and Revit modelling, we were able to give them a complete and detailed understanding of the building, both accessible and hard-to-reach areas included.

Why Drone and Point Cloud?
Some of the most critical areas of the building, such as the upper cladding and roof, simply couldn’t be accessed using standard scanning equipment.
Drone surveys allowed us to safely capture high-level areas and roof conditions without the need for scaffolding or internal access. Point cloud scanning provided highly accurate data of the building’s current state, forming the foundation for precise modelling. Revit modelling then brought everything together into a usable, design-ready model of the façade and external elements. This combined approach ensured the client had everything they needed to confidently plan and design the fireproofing works.
How Did Our Client Benefit From a SolidPoint Survey?
Access to Hard-to-Reach Areas (Without the Cost or Risk)
Using drone technology meant we could capture detailed data from areas that would otherwise require scaffolding or specialist access.
This not only reduced cost but also removed delays and safety concerns while still delivering high-quality results. The roof and upper cladding were captured quickly and efficiently, without disrupting the building.
Accurate, Design-Ready Data from Day One
The point cloud and Revit model provided a true-to-life representation of the building’s current condition:
- Precise window locations
- Identification of potential defects in the façade
- Controlled data ensuring correct levels for setting out
This meant the design team could work with confidence, knowing the model reflected reality, removing the need for repeat site visits or manual measurements.
Faster Decision-Making & Overall Project Efficiency
By combining drone data with scanning and modelling, the client gained a complete overview of the building early on, creating a knock-on effect across the project:
- Faster design development
- Reduced risk of inaccuracies
- No need for additional roof surveys
- Improved coordination across teams
Ultimately, the project ran more efficiently because everyone was working from the same accurate, up-to-date information.
The full survey, completed with just one day on site and a short turnaround in the office, provided BPP with everything they needed to progress their façade redesign with confidence.
By leveraging a combination of drone, point cloud, and Revit technologies, we delivered a solution that was not only accurate, but also safer, faster, and more cost-effective than traditional methods.
